Webinars about digestive conditions and symptoms

Our webinar series explores different digestive conditions in more depth to help you get to grips with guts.

Experiencing digestive symptoms or receiving a diagnosis of a digestive condition can be confusing, overwhelming and sometimes worrying. If you’ve ever felt like you don’t know where to start when it comes to understanding your symptoms or condition, you’re not alone.

Our Getting to Grips With… webinar series is here to help. So far, we’ve explored microscopic colitis, diverticular disease and gastroparesis with the help of expert healthcare professionals and people with real-life, lived experience of these conditions.

Our webinars are available to watch on demand on our YouTube channel and are designed to break down different digestive conditions so they’re easier to understand.

What will I learn?

Each webinar focuses on a specific digestive condition and covers:

  • What the condition is

  • What the common symptoms are

  • When it might be time to seek help from a GP
  • How the condition is usually diagnosed

  • What different treatment options might look like
  • The impact the condition can have on your life

  • Everyday tips for managing symptoms

The information is shared by healthcare professionals, including GPs, specialist doctors and dietitians, depending on the condition we’re focusing on.

Each webinar includes a guided conversation with people who live with the condition themselves, offering open and honest reflections, including the symptoms they experience, their route to diagnosis, the treatment that’s worked for them, and how they personally manage their condition.

Who are these webinars for?

  • People experiencing ongoing digestive symptoms who suspect they might have a specific condition and are awaiting a diagnosis.

  • Anyone recently diagnosed with the condition who wants to understand it more.

  • Friends, family or carers wanting to understand the condition and how they can support their loved one.

  • Anyone interested in a specific digestive condition who wants reliable, easy-to-understand information from a trusted source.

Why watch?

Understanding your digestive health can help you feel better informed, empowering you make decisions and take control. These webinars give you the knowledge you need without overwhelming you, and you can watch whenever it suits you.

Where can I watch?

Our Getting to Grips With… webinar series is available on our YouTube channel, so you can pause, rewind and rewatch anytime. So far, we have hosted webinars on:

  • Microscopic colitis: A form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes symptoms including watery diarrhoea, urgency to use the toilet, and bowel control issues.
  • Diverticular disease: A common digestive condition that affects the bowel and causes symptoms such as lower abdominal pain, bloating and a change in bowel habits.
  • Gastroparesis: A chronic (long-term) condition, where the nerves that tell the stomach to empty are not effective, resulting in delayed emptying.
  • Barrett’s oesophagus and oesophageal cancer: Barrett’s oesophagus is a potentially pre-cancerous condition where the normal cells lining the oesophagus, also known as the gullet or food pipe, have been replaced with abnormal cells. Oesophageal cancer develops when the cells that line the oesophagus are damaged. The damage causes the oesophagus to narrow and makes swallowing hard.
