Ms Seamark summarises:

This project involved the development of a range of webinars, aimed at patients, discussing dietary advice for various gut conditions including irritable bowel syndrome and coeliac disease. As part of the project, the dietetic team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, developed the website www.patientwebinars.co.uk , where the webinars were hosted. This enabled the webinars to be freely available to everyone – not just patients in Somerset – thereby supporting patients nationally to self-manage their condition. As part of the project, our team completed various service evaluations of the webinars in collaboration with several university students, which demonstrated the benefits of the webinars for patients.”

What did it feel like to win this award?

“I feel incredibly honoured to accept this award on behalf of the Somerset Dietetic Gastroenterology team and all involved. The whole team has worked so hard over several years to develop the resources, and having this recognition is a fantastic achievement. Winning this award has inspired our team to continue to develop and update the webinars available for patients, and the funds from the award will be instrumental in supporting this endeavour. Personally, I take great pride in leading a team that continues to develop innovative ways of delivering dietary support to patients both locally, and nationally.”
