Fundraise at school or university

Looking to raise funds with your fellow students?

Fundraising for Guts UK can be both educational and rewarding and most importantly fun for both students and teachers. By getting your school, college or university involved, you will be doing something quite remarkable.

Schools fundraising

Here are some top tips on how to hold a successful school fundraising event.

  1. Get in touch with the school – having a contact in the school is the first step in securing a successful fundraising event. If your child is a pupil or you know a staff member, just ask if you can do something to help raise money for Guts UK. Let them know all about what a great cause they’ll be supporting!
  2. Start planning – remember, a school’s main role is to educate, so it may only have limited time for anything extra. They may decide to choose the charity they support on an annual basis, often in September at the beginning of the school year, so make your request as soon as possible with a view to holding the event at a time that’s convenient for the school.
  3. It is a good idea to have some suggestions for fundraising events to present to the school should you get their commitment. The school may also need some information about digestive conditions and the work of Guts UK or some fundraising materials such as sponsor forms or banners. Grace’s fundraising assembly

Grace, who was diagnosed with achalasia at just three years old – a condition that affects  nerves and muscles of the oesophagus often making swallowing difficult, took part in an assembly at school to fundraise for Guts UK and to raise awareness of her condition.

Talking about the experience Grace’s mum, Vanessa said: “‘Grace was proud to share her experiences and raise awareness for the charity.”

College or university fundraising

Fundraising while at college or university is a great way to support Guts UK. Whether you are a part of RAG (Raise and Give), a society, sports team or an individual we are here to support you. Contact our friendly team on events@gutscharity.org.uk.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Stella, who raised £1,000 by putting on an incredible fashion show at her uni, City St George University of London.
