Share your experience through video

Use your voice to help us get the UK to grips with guts.

Sharing your lived experience on video is a powerful way to show the reality of digestive conditions. Your experience helps others feel less alone and highlights just how much these conditions vary from person to person.

With millions affected across the UK, it’s vital that the voices we share reflect our entire community. We want everyone to feel seen, heard and included, which is why we’re especially keen to hear from people from underrepresented communities. By sharing your experience, you’ll help build a community that truly reflects us all.

How would you like to share your experience?

You can record however feels right for you, whether that’s chatting to the camera or sharing clips of your surroundings. You don’t need fancy equipment either – your phone and your truth are all that’s needed. We love seeing your creativity shine!

There are lots of ways you can film your video:

  • Talking to the camera: Sit down in a quiet, comfy spot and talk directly to your camera.
  • A glimpse into your day: Film yourself going about your daily routine, such as heading out for a walk, packing your bag, or caring for your furry friend, talking to the camera as you do it.
  • Faceless option: If you’d prefer not to be on screen, you can film your surroundings or the small details of your day and add a voiceover over the top of these clips to tell your story.
  • A mixture of everything: You can send us a combination of you talking to the camera and clips of your world.

Your video could be about:

  • A ‘day in the life’: A glimpse into your reality living with your digestive condition.
  • Something you wish more people understood: What would you like your friends, family and other people know about your condition?
  • A letter to your past or future self: What would you say to the ‘you’ who was first diagnosed? Or what are your hopes for the ‘you’ a year from now?
  • Share your thoughts with the world: Is there a reflection, a moment of realisation, or something else you want to share?
  • Anything else: If it matters to you, it matters to us. Use your video to tell your story your way.

How we support you

As you might have seen on our share your story page, our Communications team is ready to guide you every step of the way and help you bring your experiences to life. We understand that sharing your journey is a big step, so we always move at your pace.

How it works

  1. Fill in our form: Answer a few simple questions to let us know who you are and the story you’d like to share. It’s a way to start the conversation.
  2. Your interest is received: Once you hit submit, your details are sent to our small but mighty team. We read every entry personally. It might take us a little while to get back to you, but we promise we’ve received your message.
  3. We’ll send you some helpful tips: We’ll send you your guide that covers everything from how to get the best light and sound to where we’ll share your story. It also includes steps on how to send your clips so we can handle the editing for you.
  4. You send us your clips: Don’t worry about making a “finished” movie. You can send us individual short clips if that’s easier.
  5. We add the finishing touches: Once you’ve sent your video, whether it’s one full recording or several individual clips, we’ll take it from here. We’ll add subtitles and ensure the video is accessible for everyone.
  6. You have the final say: Before anything goes live, we send it to you first. We only share your video when you are 100% happy with how it looks and feels.
