Since 2023, Guts UK Charity has proudly been in partnership with Imodium® to support people to better understand and manage their gut health.
In May, were thrilled to receive the news that we’d won the Consumer Goods award at the Third Sector Business Charity Awards!
GETTING TO GRIPS WITH OUR GUTS
The award recognises our partnership, which has helped bust myths about gut health and tackle the stigma surrounding diarrhoea.
With 25ft of guts, there’s a lot to get your head around, so it’s no surprise that understanding our digestive system can feel confusing.
We know that people want more information about their gut health. Our research shows that 51% delay seeking advice for their digestive symptoms for over six months, meaning many aren’t getting the support they need.
EMBARASSMENT – IT’S HOLDING YOU BACK
Embarrassment is holding people back at one of the times they need to come forward the most. While 43% of the UK adult population experiences digestive discomfort, 58% said they are too embarrassed to talk about their digestive condition or symptoms.

With 100 years of combined experience about gut health, the partnership between Guts UK and Imodium is the perfect match to help the UK get to grips with guts. We wanted to combine our expertise to raise awareness about the importance of gut health and break down the taboo surrounding our poo.
We co-created resources to help people better understand and manage their gut health, which 94% of people found useful and interesting. Importantly, the partnership has helped open the conversation and encouraged people to seek the support they need from Guts UK. Infact, 62% of consumers surveyed said that they are more likely to seek support. This warms our hearts, knowing we are reaching more people when they need us most and ensuring that they don’t suffer in silence or alone.
THANK YOU, IMODIUM

Imodium kindly donated £30,000 to Guts UK Charity, helping us to continue funding life-changing research and providing much-needed support. From the bottom of our hearts (and guts), we cannot thank Imodium enough for their dedication to our cause.
KNOWING WHEN TO SEEK HELP IS VITAL
If you’ve had a sudden change in bowel habits for four weeks or more, contact your GP. If you’ve had diarrhoea for longer than four weeks, please contact your GP and read more on our online poo checker, the Poo-Torial.
If you suspect food poisoning, most people’s symptoms resolve in five to 10 days. If they do not, or the poo changes to a red colour, or you have severe and constant abdominal pains with a high fever, you should contact your doctor.
