Getting to grips with pancreatitis
Our webinar series explores different digestive conditions in more depth to help you get to grips with guts.
Our next event is all about pancreatitis, covering both acute and chronic pancreatitis
Overview
Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas. There are two main types: acute pancreatitis, which develops suddenly, and chronic pancreatitis, which is a long-term condition that can cause ongoing damage to the pancreas.
Symptoms can vary depending on the type of pancreatitis. They may include:
- Pain in the upper abdomen, which may spread to the back
- Feeling or being sick
- Changes to your digestion, including diarrhoea
- Weight loss
- Fatigue
There are different causes of pancreatitis. Gallstones and alcohol are common causes of acute pancreatitis, while chronic pancreatitis can have a range of causes. Sometimes, the cause is not known.
We’re hosting a free webinar on 10 November at 5.30pm where you can learn more about pancreatitis, including why it happens, what it’s like to live with the condition, and how to navigate healthcare and long-term management.
