This Gastroparesis Awareness Month, we’re celebrating our incredible community of supporters who are helping to raise awareness and vital funds for digestive health. One of those superstars is Eryn, who recently raised an amazing £4,000 for Guts UK at her charity party night!
Turning her experience into action
Eryn lives with gastroparesis, which is a digestive condition that causes food to move through the stomach much slower than it should. After spending 14 weeks in hospital at the beginning of the year, Eryn was determined to turn a tough experience into something positive. She organised a party night to bring her friends, family and local community together while raising money for Guts UK and the hospital ward that cared for her.
The evening featured live music, a DJ, raffle, tombola, games and a buffet, with local businesses donating prizes and helping to make the night possible.
“My favourite part was seeing everyone enjoying themselves and seeing all the planning finally come together. There was such a brilliant atmosphere throughout the night and knowing that everyone had come along to support me and the causes I was fundraising for made it incredibly emotional and special.”
Eryn says one of her biggest fundraising tips is to not be afraid to ask for support…
“I was amazed by how many people and local businesses were willing to support me when I explained why I was fundraising and what the money would mean. I would absolutely encourage anyone thinking about fundraising for Guts UK to go for it. You don’t have to organise a huge event or set yourself a massive target – every single pound makes a difference.”
Eryn and friends also organised a previous fundraiser for Guts UK.
Create your own fundraiser
Eryn’s fundraising shows how one great idea can bring a community together for a cause that matters. Whether you organise a party night, take on a sponsored challenge, hold a quiz, or create something completely your own, you too can help us get to the bottom of digestive conditions.
