Guts UK is delighted to be hosting a free online event to help people get to grips with gastroparesis, a chronic (long-term) digestive condition that affects the stomach.
At Guts UK, we provide expert, evidence-based information about gastroparesis. The term gastroparesis means stomach (gastro) paralysis (paresis). In gastroparesis, the stomach does not empty in the usual way. Nerves that tell the stomach to empty are not effective, so the stomach is too slow in moving food through the body.
While the number of people diagnosed is 14 per 100,000 people in the UK, which is rare, the condition has a significant impact on those who live with it.
When and where is the event taking place?
The event takes place on Thursday 26th September 2024 from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. It is a virtual event and will take place on Zoom.
How do I sign up?
Registration for this event is now closed.
Who is the event for?
The event is for anyone affected by gastroparesis – including people with symptoms of gastroparesis, people who have a diagnosis, and their family, friends or carers – as well as anyone who’d like to learn more about the condition.
What will the event cover?
We’ll be joined by panellists who’ll share their expertise on gastroparesis, including Gastroenterologist, Dr Ray Shidrawi and Specialist Dietitian, Bethany Hallam. We’ll also be joined by two experts by experience, Michael and Sadila, who both live with the condition.
There’ll be an opportunity to hear from each of our guests and to ask them any questions you might have about gastroparesis.
