Ian, Philippa and Lizzie (Dan, Charlie and Freddie)
£100.00
Jack Alexander Crawford 05.03.1994 – 27.02.2023, a much-loved son of Philippa and Ian, and brother to Elizabeth.
Jack was always an intelligent and inquisitive child, interested in the world.
Jack was funny and lively; he knew his own mind from a young age.
Underneath all of this energy was a sensitive and thoughtful boy, often shy in new situations, whilst loving the company of family and friends. As he got older, this contradiction translated into social anxiety and a more difficult relationship with close family.
Encyclopaedic knowledge of geography and a huge music fan. An avid Crewe Alexandra fan – home and away when he could. A keen fisherman who enjoyed night fishing with his friends. Playing and watching cricket.
Jack was a proud uncle of Charlie, and he would have also loved Freddie born in 2024.
We wanted something positive to come out of Jack’s passing. We briefly considered valuable causes around alcohol and mental health support. We decided ultimately to support Guts UK and to help others afflicted by acute pancreatitis and its devastating consequences.
The lyrics below are from the song. Like the meaning of the song, Jack struggled to find his way in the world and find a path that maybe could have led him to a sense of purpose. He tried – started and stopped two university courses, successfully completed an apprenticeship with an entertainment business booking bands and artists, and then promptly left. Other jobs came and went.
‘Love Yourself’ by The Boxer Rebellion
You told yourself
"I'd write a letter today"
Tell the world that you would hurt yourself
Can't look in a mirror much less anyone else
You try to move on from here
But you look like a ghost alive
You can't think always running in place
A lost soul that won't show his face
But I know you're just someone who's feeling all alone
You're just someone who doesn't seem to know which way to turn
If you just ask for help, if you just ask for help
First thing I'll say is you gotta love yourself
Find it hard to take
Hard to take even the best of praise
A pair of hands that became too tough
A growing armour for whatever they might touch
But I know you're just someone who's feeling all alone
You're just someone who doesn't seem to know which way to turn
If you just ask for help, if you just ask for help
First thing I'll say is you gotta love yourself
But I know you're just someone who's feeling all alone
You're just someone who doesn't seem to know which way to turn
If you just ask for help, if you just ask for help
First thing I'll say is you gotta love yourself
You gotta love yourself, you gotta love yourself
