Lillie’s story

With your support, we can be there for families like Lillie’s:

“In March 2024, I lost my mum very suddenly to a disease called diverticulitis; something I never had even heard of. She was the most important person in my life and raised me, my sister and my brother all alone.

Diverticulitis is a hereditary condition, meaning it’s common to run in families. This has led to the diagnosis of two close family members. Since doing my own research, there’s not much awareness on diverticulitis and I’d like to change that in honour of my mum, in hopes that people can notice these symptoms, get diagnosed, and understand possible treatments and lifestyle changes to avoid future complications before it’s too late.

With new knowledge, we will end the pain and suffering for the millions affected by digestive diseases. Which is why I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Guts UK, to help prevent other family’s having to go through what mine and millions others had to. With new knowledge, we will end the pain and suffering for the millions affected by digestive diseases.

Their support has been brilliant and I will be proud to wear my Guts UK vest next year.” – Lillie
