World IBD Day

19th May 2020

On World IBD Day every year, patient organisations come together from all over the globe to raise awareness of Crohn’s disease & Colitis. Guts UK is proud to fund over 10 current active research projects into Crohn’s & Colitis.

What is IBD?

Crohn’s disease and Colitis (often ulcerative or microscopic) are referred to as Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). They are long-term conditions that involve inflammation of the gut.

Have the IBD community been affected by Covid-19?

Many of those that have Crohn’s or Colitis will take immunosuppressants, suppressing the immune system and putting the IBD community at higher risk of severe illness if they were to contract coronavirus Covid-19.

How do Guts UK help those who have IBD, especially at such a difficult time?

Our community need us now more than ever before and team Guts UK have been busy answering your Covid-19 questions over the past few months. We are proud to provide expert, evidence-based information to our community when you need it most. With this information, patients can make informed decisions and take control.
